MY PROJECTS:
For project 1, we were asked to realize a physical manifestation of a set of conditions created on Adobe Illustrator. I chose to design a wooden sign presented in low relief using a combination of raster and vector graphics. It reads, "Love you to the moon and back" and is accented with constellation cutouts. Because of this project, I am now laser cutting certified in the BDW. I look forward to improving my skills and making more projects in the future!
For project 2, we were asked to use color as the primary medium in the creation of a large format print using Adobe Photoshop. The final piece reads, "This must be the place," and features a collage of my own photos as a student at Brown University using CMYK color. I am now Multi Media Lab certified and Large Format Printer certified. I'm excited to use this resource moving forward for poster making, printmaking, and enlarging digital pieces!
For project 3, we were asked to create a zine without any of our own content, instead re-contextualizing and re-purposing existing creations into something new. Using Adobe Indesign, I put together a collection of pages displaying fashion trends in the four seasons, incorporating snippets of articles from fashion magazines such as Vogue. I also incorporated images, mostly from Pinterest, to display the vibe and styles of each season. Finally, after printing these pages, I glued on cutouts from magazines, combining digital and physical collage styles to the degree that some parts were hard to identify as printed or glued. This project helped me realize how much I enjoy collaging and I will continue to explore this type of art in the future.
For the final project, we were asked to make a visually and conceptually complex piece using any tools or techniques from the semester. I decided to make a collage using Adobe Photoshop displaying the history of my father's winery business over time. It highlighted images that date decades back gradually blending to features of the business today. It states "Our roots run deep" to emphasize the family history of the land that the vineyard has been planted on. I used a variety of Photoshop tools for this project, both editing individual pictures to make them look older or brighter as well as aspects of the entire collage. I am really proud of the final product and my newly developed skillset with Adobe platforms.
